Why do fly swatters have holes?

The holes in the fly swatter blades reduce the wind resistance, thus increasing the velocity of the snap. The faster you snap the blade, the better your chances are of killing the varmint.
Why are three consecutive strikes in bowling called a "turkey"?

According to PBA historian Chuck Pezzano, there used to be sweepstake tournaments during the holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving. If a person bowled three strikes, the crowed would scream "turkey" and the bowler would receive a live turkey for his/her performance.
Why don't you see any used UPS trucks?

Why are pipes under sinks "S" shaped?

The "S" shape allows water to be trapped in the pipe forming a seal. The seal prevents sewer odors and other undesireable things from seeping into your sink and it may catch things that you inadvertently drop into the sink.
